  • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Completed, or in progress, 26 or more post-secondary credits.
  • Completed the following prerequisite courses: calculus, microeconomics, and macroeconomics by the end of spring 2019 semester. Students who have fewer than 26 credits in progress or completed by the application deadline must also submit a high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores to be included in the review. Students who are applying at the junior level are strongly encouraged to complete business statistics and financial accounting prior to transfer in order to remain on a four-year plan. Transfer Guides are available on the transfer website.
  • The Carlson School of Management admits a limited number of transfer students to its program each year. Admission is competitive and is based on an overall assessment of the applicant's background and accomplishments as presented in the application materials. Only applicants who have completed the minimum admission requirements are considered. Academic performance is assessed on factors such as: overall grade point average and rigor of curriculum, progress in the prerequisite courses by the end of the spring semester, grade trends, and completion patterns.

In addition to very strong academic records, applicants should have strong leadership, service and/or work experience. The Carlson School Supplement, which must be completed in addition to the transfer admission application, provides the basis for assessing an applicant's accomplishments outside the classroom.

Applicants who have completed the application to any Carlson School major by the transfer admission deadline will have their application materials referred to the college for consideration for admission. Applicants who have not met the prerequisite requirements listed above cannot be admitted or referred to the Carlson School for a decision.

For applicants to be considered for admission to another college, the student must select a second choice major in another college. If you would like information about business-related majors that are offered in other colleges, please contact the Office of Admissions.

Please note: If a student has earned a bachelor's degree in business from another four-year institution, he/she may not earn a second bachelor's degree from the Carlson School.
