Admission to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities is highly competitive. For example, for the upcoming academic year, Fall 2026, we have received a record number of approximately 50,000 applications for the freshman class of about 7,200 students. While we were very grateful for the strong interest in the University of Minnesota, the number of applications submitted and the strength of the applicant pool has created a competitive admissions situation.
Please note: Due to the number of highly competitive applications for the School of Nursing for Fall 2026, admission to the program was especially competitive.
