International Transfer Missing Information

Included below is a reference guide to assist you with questions you may have regarding any of the particular items that you are missing for your University of Minnesota Twin Cities application.

We are not able to evaluate your application until we receive all of the missing item(s) requested. If we are missing part(s) of your application, it will be noted on Application Tracker. Please be sure to submit your missing item(s) by the appropriate transfer application deadline(s)

If you have already submitted the requested information, thank you! Please allow 5-7 days from the date your materials arrive on campus for your documents to be processed and your Application Tracker to be updated.

Official Transcript

If Application Tracker indicates that an “Official Transcript” is missing, please have a transcript mailed directly from the institution you attended, even if no credit was earned.

Official transcripts are the original or attested copies of original academic documents mailed in a sealed, stamped envelope directly from the college or university. Official documents must have been issued within the last year. For more information, visit Application Checklist for International Transfer Applicants.

Official English Proficiency Score

If Application Tracker indicates that “Official English Proficiency Scores” are missing, please submit your official English proficiency test scores. For more information on how to submit your scores, visit English Proficiency Information.

Official Exam Certificate

Submit an official copy of your secondary school leaving exam certificate in the original language and a certified true, word-for-word English translation. Official exam certificates may include exam results such as, but not limited to, IB, A-level, WAEC, HKDSE, SPM, and CISCE/CBSE. For more information, visit Secondary School Sample Document page.

Official ACT or SAT Score

If your Application Tracker says you are missing “Official ACT or SAT Scores,” please have your official test scores sent directly from the testing agency.

GED

Students who have earned or will earn a GED should login to Application Tracker and click on "GED Scores" for more information on how to submit their official GED score from the testing agency. 

For students who earned their GED in the state of Minnesota, please reach out to the Minnesota Department of Education for more information on submitting your official score. Please visit the Minnesota Department of Education website at z.umn.edu/MNGED.

Updated Official Transcript

If Application Tracker indicates that an “Updated Official Transcript” is missing, this means an updated transcript including coursework and grades from the most recent term at your current college or university are needed. Please have a transcript mailed directly from the institution you attended.

Official transcripts are the original or attested copies of original academic documents mailed in a sealed, stamped envelope directly from the college or university. Updated Official English Proficiency Score

If you are a MELP student, we need to receive your End of Semester Assessment (ETA) results from MELP. Visit English Proficiency Information for more information.

Current College Courses in Progress

Log in to Application Tracker and submit your college or university courses in progress.

  • If you are applying for fall semester, provide a list of courses planned or in progress for spring semester at your current institution.
  • If you are applying for spring semester, provide a list of courses planned or in progress for fall semester at your current institution.
  • If you are not currently attending school, contact the Office of Admissions at 612-625-2008 or 1-800-752-1000.

Work, School, or Activities Since High School

In your Application Tracker, click on the "Work, School, or Activities Since High School," where you will be directed to an online form. Please provide a list of work, school, or other activities since graduating from high school, with dates included.

Examples may include, but are not limited to, work experience, family responsibilities, exchange programs. This information is required to assist in the overall assessment of your application materials, and to ensure that any coursework since high school graduation is reflected in your application file.

Final High School Transcript

All applicants must submit a high school transcript. A high school transcript (or GED) is needed to determine: proof of graduation; whether you have completed the high school preparation requirements; and whether you have met all of the prerequisites for admission to your college of choice.

Exception: students who have previously completed an A.A. degree or bachelor's degree do not need to submit a high school transcript.

Final Secondary School Documents

Arrange to have your secondary school send us your final secondary school academic transcript that includes your grades through the end of your last year in school (equivalent to the 12th year of high school in the U.S.) and your date of graduation.

Official documents are those that are original or attested copies of original academic documents that are mailed in a sealed, stamped envelope directly from your secondary school. All documents not issued in English must be in the original language and include a certified true, word-for-word English translation. A scanned or electronic copy of an official document is considered unofficial. For more information, visit Secondary School Sample Document page.

Applicants to the programs listed below are required to complete a supplemental application in addition to your completed admission application. Please complete the appropriate application for deadline information and instructions for submission. 

Background Questionnaire

If "background questionnaire" is noted on Application Tracker as missing, please return the questionnaire that was sent to you in the mail. This questionnaire is being sent to you as a result of your 'Yes' response to the question below on the application for admission:

As an adult or juvenile, I have been found legally responsible for a sexual offense or I have sexual offense charges pending against me at this time.

The University of Minnesota is committed to maintaining a scholarly, educational environment characterized by safety, respect, and integrity. As part of this commitment, the University requires undergraduate applicants to supply information about their conduct.

Applicants reporting academic dishonesty, sexual offense convictions, or pending sexual offense charges are never automatically barred from admission to the University. Before the information below is considered, we will complete a holistic, overall assessment of the application, and if it is determined that the applicant is academically admissible, only then will the responses be considered as factors in our review.

Student Conduct Background Questionnaire

If "Explanation of response to required expulsion/suspension/probation/eligibility to return question on application" is noted on Application Tracker as missing, please return the questionnaire that was sent to you in the mail. This questionnaire is being sent to you as a result of your 'Yes' response to the question below on the application for admission:

I have been expelled from, suspended from, or placed on probation at any high school or college for academic dishonesty or for sexual misconduct.
