Sneak Preview events are an important and one-of-a-kind step in your college and major exploration process! This summer, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about all of your options across our colleges, such as the 150+ majors and minors you can choose from. You'll also learn more about student life and our community as a Golden Gopher. Sneak Preview events dive deeper than the typical campus visit into how our colleges, academic programs, and faculty can benefit your educational experience.

Join us for a U Explore Sneak Preview event to learn more about all of our program offerings, or attend one of our focused topic area events to get a special introduction to the colleges and majors available in those fields. Additionally, included in each Sneak Preview event is an opportunity for a campus tour!

Sneak Preview events are created with you and your interests in mind! We encourage you to bring anyone who is important to your college search process. Whether you’re searching for the right career or already have a defined path, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for at these Sneak Preview events!

  • Do you have a specific interest you want to explore? Great! Register for one of our focused topic area events that highlight the colleges and majors tied to those academic areas including Business, Education, and Human Services; or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
  • Unsure of where your path leads? Even better! Join us for a U Explore event to learn more about our programs and discover where your interests may lie at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. We’re here to support you in your journey of exploration!

Explore all 150+ majors

Our vast array of majors are divided into eight colleges, which means as a Golden Gopher, you’ll have access to the subjects that matter most to you – all in one place! Discover which college your major(s) of interest is housed in at majors.umn.edu. As you take a look, who knows, an unexpected topic of interest may cross your path!


Step 2. Register for your preferred event(s)

Once you determine the event you’d like to attend, you'll be able to register yourself and your guests for your preferred date below. 

At the event, there will be a series of breakout sessions hosted by the colleges in attendance and an optional breakout session related to campus resources. During registration, please choose the breakout sessions that appeal to you most.

If you are interested in attending a general campus tour, please register for one of three general tour options while registering for your preferred Sneak Preview events. General tour options include:

  • East Bank Minneapolis Tour: considered the "General Campus Tour", highlights many majors and stays on the East Bank of campus. Great for anyone!
  • East Bank and West Bank Minneapolis Tour: showcases some of the East Bank, and then walks over the river to the West Bank. Best for students interested in the following colleges: Carlson, College of Liberal Arts (fine arts and social science majors).
  • East Bank Minneapolis and St. Paul Tour: showcases some of the East Bank, and then takes a Campus Connector bus to St. Paul campus. Best for students interested in the following colleges: College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences, or College of Design.

Space is limited for these events – we encourage you to apply today! If a focused topic area event fills, attending one of our U Explore Sneak Preview events will also allow you to explore your area of interest.

Why should I attend?

Now is the perfect time to explore the many opportunities available and see for yourself if the University of Minnesota Twin Cities is a good fit for you.

After attending a Sneak Preview event, you’ll leave with confidence in your path as a Golden Gopher. You will have the unique chance to get to know our University offerings in a single day – with an open mind and an abundance of options, you're sure to find what you're looking for, or perhaps, something delightfully unexpected. When it comes time to apply, you’ll be ready!

Who will be there?

Along with you and your guests, you will be amongst other rising juniors and seniors from across the state and country who also have an interest in becoming a Golden Gopher and uncovering their path at the U of M Twin Cities.

In addition to staff from the Office of Admissions, you will be welcomed by various freshman-admitting colleges, whose staff will share information about how they bring each major to life through hands-on experiences, career support, research, and more. To learn which colleges will be represented at each event, click the maroon interest area buttons below. Our freshman-admitting colleges include:

  • Carlson School of Management
  • College of Biological Sciences
  • College of Design
  • College of Education and Human Development
  • College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences
  • College of Liberal Arts
  • College of Science and Engineering
  • School of Nursing

At each event, an information fair will be available to explore! Various campus partners, such as the Learning Abroad Center, will be present and excited to chat with you about opportunities and resources available to U of M students.

When do they take place?

Sneak Preview events take place this summer between July and August, the perfect time to explore our endless opportunities for your future career and interests! Some event dates are structured around a specific topic area. All events will include morning programming, your choice of three breakout sessions, lunch and an information fair, and an optional campus tour. 

Itinerary:

Check in: 8:30 a.m.
Programming: 9:00 a.m.
Breakout Sessions: 10:10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Lunch and Information Fair: 12:15 p.m.
Optional Tour: 12:45 p.m.

How do I get there?

Sneak Previews start at Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank Campus. 

Driving Directions

For parking near Coffman Memorial Union, we suggest parking at East River Road Garage (385 East River Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55455).

From I-35W
FROM THE SOUTH:

Approaching downtown Minneapolis, proceed in the right lanes. Follow the I-94 east split from downtown Minneapolis, but do not exit onto I-94. Continue on 35W North to exit #18 for University Avenue S.E./4th Street S.E. Turn right onto University Avenue S.E. and proceed to 15th Street SE/Pleasant Street, and turn right. Follow Pleasant Street until you reach Arlington Street. Take a right on Arlington Street, and drive one block to the East River Road. Turn left on East River Parkway. Proceed on East River Parkway for approximately half a mile. The East River Road Garage will be on your left.

FROM THE NORTH:

Follow 35W south and take exit #18 for University Avenue S.E./4th Street S.E. Turn left at the second set of lights on University Avenue S.E., heading east. Proceed to 15th Street SE/Pleasant Street, and turn right. Follow Pleasant Street until you reach Arlington Street. Take a right on Arlington Street, and drive one block to the East River Road. Turn left on East River Parkway. Proceed on East River Parkway for approximately half a mile. The East River Road Garage will be on your left.

From I-94
FROM THE EAST:

Follow I-94 west and take the Huron Boulevard exit (#235B). Turn left on Fulton Street S.E. Follow Fulton Street S.E. for approximately five blocks. Fulton Street S.E. will veer and merge with East River Parkway. Follow East River Parkway for three blocks. The entrance to the East River Road Garage will be on your right.

FROM THE WEST:

Follow I-94 east and take the Huron Boulevard exit (#235B). Turn left on Fulton Street S.E. Follow Fulton Street S.E. for approximately five blocks. Fulton Street S.E. will veer and merge with East River Parkway. Follow East River Parkway for three blocks. The entrance to the East River Road Garage will be on your right.

Is the parking garage full?

Try the Washington Avenue Parking Ramp (501 Washington Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455)!

 

Walking Directions

To walk to Coffman Memorial Union (300 Washington Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN, 55455) from East River Road Garage, take the parking ramp elevator to the plaza level (level one). You will exit through a set of doors onto the Coffman Memorial Union Plaza. Cross the plaza and Delaware Street S.E., proceeding up the stairs to enter the ground floor of Coffman Memorial Union.

 

Transit Directions

To access Coffman Memorial Union while riding the Green Line in either direction, exit the train at the U of M East Bank Station. Walk west along Washington Avenue S.E. for about 4 blocks. Coffman Memorial Union's entrance will be on your left.
