Music

Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in music, a music minor, or a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Applied Emphasis must complete a School of Music application and entrance audition. Visit the School of Music website for information on the application process and deadlines.

Students interested in pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Academic Emphasis must complete a “Bachelor of Arts Statement of Interest” form. Information on this form can be found on the School of Music website. This emphasis does not require an entrance audition. 

Prospective music students should contact the School of Music to schedule a visit to the School of Music and clarify any questions regarding the application and audition process. Please email [email protected] or call 612-624-2847.

Please note, admission to the University of Minnesota does not guarantee acceptance into the Music Program.


Dance

Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts in Dance must audition. Auditions are used to place students in the appropriate levels of dance technique classes. Information on the audition process and specific requirements can be found on the College of Liberal Arts Dance Program website. 

Prospective dance students must apply to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities prior to the admission deadlines, however, admission notification is not needed in order to participate in auditions.

Please note, admission to the University of Minnesota does not guarantee acceptance into the Dance Program.


Acting

Students interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program must audition. Information on the audition process and specific requirements can be found on the College of Liberal Arts BFA in Acting webpage. 

Prospective acting students should contact the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Acting Training Program via email at [email protected] to clarify any questions regarding the audition process.
