Financial Certification Statement

For 2019-2020 International Students

International students are responsible for all educational and personal expenses for the duration of their F-1 status at the University of Minnesota. In order to issue an I-20, which is needed to obtain a F-1 student visa, the University of Minnesota is required by the United States government to maintain records that demonstrate that you have at least the funds necessary to cover your tuition, fees, and living expenses for your first year of study (12 months). If you attend summer session and/or bring your spouse or other dependents with you to the United States, you must also demonstrate that you have the funds necessary to cover those costs.

To show that you have sufficient funds for your first year of study at the University of Minnesota, complete and submit this form. Please note that forms that are incomplete or do not show sufficient funds cannot be submitted.

You may submit this form at any time but I-20s are issued by the University of Minnesota after admitted students have confirmed their enrollment. Please note: The Submit button will appear when you have completed the form.
