Hometown: Rapid City, SD
Why he chose the University of Minnesota Twin Cities: I choose the University of Minnesota because I wanted more opportunities than I could handle. Minneapolis was also a very big factor in my decision. Coming from South Dakota, there aren’t many skylines, so every time I drive north on I-35 and am greeted by the bright lights I reminded of all the possibilities the city and the University of Minnesota have to offer me!
Favorite student organization and why: After getting my tour of the University of Minnesota I knew that is what I wanted to do, so I joined the Admissions Ambassadors and it has been one of my top experiences on campus. Being a part of that group led to me making a ton of friends but is also the reason I am an Admissions Counselor today! In a meeting my boss talked about an internship opportunity in the Office of Admissions, so I applied and got the position. Once I graduated I was offered a job! So I highly recommend getting involved because you never know what opportunities and connections you will find!
Highlight of the Twin Cities: One weekend freshman year, my friends and I decided to check out the Winter Carnival in downtown St.Paul and stumbled upon this cheesy ritual known as the Over Throwing of King Boreas. King Boreas is the emperor of the winter but every year the Vulcan’s come on chariots of fire (aka fire trucks) to overthrow him and his army of Winds! Like I said it’s very cheesy but it's a ton of fun especially because everyone there gets very into it. You also get the opportunity to see all the amazing ice sculptures and try some delicious food.
