Most Inspirational U of M Alum: Lou Bellamy, who received his Master of Arts and was also on faculty, founded Penumbra Theatre in Minneapolis, which is the nation's largest African-American theatre company. Penumbra has been an incredibly important theatre in producing theatre written, directed, and featuring People of Color. Best Place to Study on Campus: Coffman Student Union because there is often talented students playing the piano which provides some great relaxing study jams.
The One Experience Students Shouldn't Miss: Study abroad! I spent 5 months in the Middle East/North Africa region and still think about and use that experience every day! I made some of my best friends, learned so much about myself, and was able to connect with so many amazing people!
I also encourage students to take advantage of our Freshman Seminar programs as they are a great opportunity to connect with faculty and dive deep into a content area with a small group of students!
