Hometown: Madison, Wisconsin Major: Child Psychology Why she chose the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: "When I started planning for college I looked at a lot of schools; public and private, large and small. The University of Minnesota stood out for me as a great Big 10 University with many ways to get involved and build smaller communities. It wasn't until I came for a visit and tour of campus that I realized how well the U of M suited me." Favorite University of Minnesota class: Honors Seminar - Images of Youth in Society. The course focused on children and adolescents in society by analyzing the impact of images portrayed in the media. I took this class in the fall of 2005 which was the semester that Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. The professor chose to concentrate on the images of youth generated from this event. I thought it was wonderful that a professor would mold the course to fit relevant topics for his students. Advice for students who are applying: "Get to know your admissions counselor here. We are eager to speak to students and to help you through the admissions process. We were once applying to colleges as well and we understand it can be overwhelming, but we want to make the process smooth for you. Apply early and let us know when you have questions!" |
