Hometown: Plymouth, Minnesota

Major(s): Psychology major with a minor in Family Social Science

Why she chose the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: "While looking at colleges I was undecided on my major. The University of Minnesota offers 143 different degree programs to choose from, so I knew I'd be able to find my niche. Being located in a major metropolitan area, the U of M provides endless opportunities for volunteering and internships as well as many theatres, local events, and one of my favorites, Gopher Sports!"

Favorite University of Minnesota class: Family Social Science 3429: Counseling Skills Practicum. "This interactive high energy class taught by Brier Miller Minor peaked my interest in the counseling field. The class was based around small group work and role playing while learning about all the current issues a counselor encounters. It was a worthwhile class where I learned how to be professional and use effective techniques. The importance of using your own personality through these techniques and caring about each person on a personal level was also taught."

Favorite U of M Memory: "There are so many to choose from: Participating in my residence hall's cheer team during Homecoming week and in the Ballyhoo dance competition during Spring Jam, winning an intramural co-ed football championship, and completing and presenting my Psychology Major Project!"

Favorite Random Fact About the University: "If you look closely at Coffman Memorial Union you may see the resemblance to our favorite mascot, Goldy!"

The One Experience Students Shouldn't Miss: "Residence halls. It's a great way to meet new friends, keep up with all the happenings on campus, be within walking distance to your classes, and not have to worry about cooking!"
