Important note for students admitted April 18, 2017, or later: Your enrollment confirmation deadline is specified in your letter of admission. Please refer to your letter of admission for your deadline date.

2. Submit a Financial Certification Statement (to receive an I-20)

Submit your statement online, or use the PDF of the Financial Certification Statement.

3. Apply for Housing

The University of Minnesota guarantees housing to all admitted first-year freshmen who are willing to accept assignment to any space designated, and who:

  1. Submit the housing application-contract and $25 non-refundable housing application fee to Housing & Residential Life no later than May 1; and
  2. Confirm their enrollment with the Office of Admissions no later than May 1.

Students who apply for housing after May 1 are placed in housing on a space-available basis.

4. Submit your Final Transcript

The deadline to submit your final transcript is August 1, 2017. In order to verify that you have met this enrollment requirement, you must have your secondary school send your official final secondary school transcript and proof of graduation (i.e. graduation certificate or leaving exam results) to the Office of Admissions. Please refer to the Country Specific Documents page for more details.

After You Confirm Your Enrollment

After you confirm your enrollment, you will begin to take additional steps towards becoming a Golden Gopher!

5. Attend Programs for New Students

Complete the online International Student Preparation Course. Also, thoroughly review the Important Information for Admitted International Students for guidance on programs including Freshman Orientation.

6. Attend Welcome Week

Welcome Week complements your orientation experience and is an action-packed experience for new freshmen that connects you to the campus, your college of enrollment, and the Twin Cities community. Welcome Week occurs the week before classes begin and attendance is required. During the program, you will have an opportunity to build relationships with your classmates and discover the multitude of resources and opportunities available to enhance your college experience. More information will be provided in the summer to students who have confirmed their enrollment. Mark your calendars for late August (specific dates will be posted as soon as they're available), and visit the Welcome Week page for more details.
