December 15, 2009
Priority deadline for fall 2010 admission applications
Complete applications postmarked by December 15, 2009, receive priority consideration for admission. Applications that are postmarked or become complete after December 15 are considered on a space-available basis. Space is generally very limited for most programs and admission is more competitive.
Honors and scholarship consideration: Admitted international freshmen are considered for admission to the University Honors Program and for the University's Global Excellence Scholarships based on an overall assessment of their admission application. After December 15, students are considered for honors on a space-available basis. It is unlikely that scholarship funds will be available after December 15.
Guaranteed Housing
March 1, 2010
Housing Living Learning Community priority deadline
Students who are interested in one of the Living Learning Communities are encouraged to apply as soon as possible but no later than March 1, 2010. Assignments in Living Learning Communities are based on the date the completed housing application-contract is received, space availability, and whether students meet program requirements.
May 1, 2010
Freshman Housing Guarantee deadline
The University of Minnesota guarantees housing to all admitted first-year freshmen who are willing to accept assignment to any space designated, and who:
- Submit the housing application-contract and $25 non-refundable housing application fee to Housing & Residential Life no later than May 1, 2010; and
- Confirm your enrollment with the Office of Admissions no later than May 1, 2010.
Admitted freshmen who apply for housing after May 1 are placed in housing on a space-available basis.
Enrollment Confirmation
May 1, 2010
Enrollment confirmation deadline
The deadline for admitted students to confirm their enrollment for fall 2010 is May 1, 2010.
When students confirm their enrollment, they are declaring their intent to attend the University of Minnesota, and we will reserve a place for them in the incoming class.
All international students who will be enrolling on a temporary student visa (F-1) must also submit a Financial Certification form. This form is used to prove that you have sufficient funds for all educational and living expenses for 12 months.
Students may return the enrollment confirmation form (which was included with their admission letter) and the $175 confirmation fee to the Office of Admissions by May 1, 2010. Students may also confirm their enrollment and pay their confirmation fee online after March 1, 2010. Confirmation forms and fees received after the May 1, 2010, postmark priority deadline, are accepted on a space-available basis.
