College-Level Examination Program Awards

Effective for exams taken on or after 9/1/06

PLEASE NOTE: The following award schedules are in effect for students entering the Twin Cities campus fall 2008 through spring 2010. Beginning fall 2010, a new award schedule will be in place. Changes are likely to be made particularly in the use of these examinations to meet specific liberal education requirements. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) enables students of any age to take exams on a variety college-level topics. The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities offers college credit for certain CLEP exams. The guide below tells you which CLEP tests are accepted by the U of M, for credit toward or exemption from some degree program requirements (see below). Tests not listed below are not currently accepted for credit or exemption.

Students wishing to test for French, German, or Spanish credit should contact the University's Language Center for more information (612-624-0862).

To arrange for CLEP testing on the U of M Twin Cities campus, please contact the Testing Center (612-624-9853). To have official score reports sent for CLEP tests previously taken, contact the College Board.
